Getting unstuck, when it must get done. Making art and feeling sick don’t mix. I sat at my desk to work yet with a head cold, I just couldn’t concentrate. My work was in front of me and I knew what needed to get done but I didn’t have motovation to begin. It takes motovation to do the things we need to, but what if it is something that must get done and dont have the motovation.
So we feel stuck, lacking motovation.
It is the same as facing a blank canvas. As artists, we just Do it. There is a list of routine things we do to figure out what needs doing until a motivational idea strikes.
I had read an article a while back on ArtNews that was about just this topic. The artist Tom Burckhard, created a work of art, that has traveled to museums and galleries showing the feeling an artist has of facing the blank canvas when they are in the studio surrounded by the supplies in which we use to create.
This artist, Tom Burckhard with his FULL STOP (2004–5) installation showed the realities an artist has of the thoughts of feeling stuck, reoccurring feelings of not knowing what to create.
The big empty canvas, represents the reoccurring fear of “feeling stuck” the same as many artists.
Well artists have found ways to get unstuck by doing many things. This motivational list is just a few of the things artists do.

I know I am guilty of doing a few of these. I found the top one on the list was reading, and in second was sketching; both are ways for me to get back into the groove.
I need to get back into the studio to get producing.
