A New Year to Begin a Creative Journey

I was looking back through my sketchbook and found the sketch
pictured below and decided, “just do it.”  I sketched this image in January of 2013; it
is about creativity and the New Year.  I
used this as inspiration along with some inspiration from Donna Downey, a
mixed-media artist on YouTube.

Pictured is the sketch from January that has a flower with words combined.

Below is pictured of most of the supplies that I used; pattern tissue paper , acrylic paint, matte medium, paint markers, ink pens, Staz-On stamp-pad in black, word stamps, vintage page text, bakers twine, the sticker from the Smash washi tape, mental accent embellishments and water soluble crayons.

This is the finished picture in my art Journal, which also happens to be the last page spread in my journal for 2013. As this image ends the year 2013, I think this is the start of something new not only for my blog, but also for my art journal. For 2014, I want to challenge myself, and anyone who would like to join me, to create mixed-media artwork each month.

I really like the color palette that I used, permanent
dark red, scarlet, madder carmine, pine green, yellow green, and Prussian blue,
along with black and white.
